ALBANY — Police reports indicate multiple weapons, including custom knives and some 30 firearms, were among several items stolen from the home of Albany City Attorney Nathan Davis during a weekend robbery.

According to a report from the Albany Police Department, Davis’ home on Flamingo Lane was burglarized some time between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday and that someone stole several guns, custom knives, a flat screen television, and silver kitchen items.

Investigators said that the APD received a complaint from a neighbor who reported that while walking her dog, she noticed that the victim’s rear door had been forced open.

Officers searched the residence, but were unable to locate any suspects inside the home. They contacted Davis, who was out of town at the time, and he advised that the items had been taken.

After returning, Davis was able to confirm that the items listed in the report were in fact missing, along with some pieces of jewelry that were not listed on the report.

Davis said that this wasn’t the first time he’s experienced a break-in at the residence where he’s lived for 35 years, but that this was so upsetting he couldn’t recall the prior circumstances.

While confirming the police report, Davis added that it appeared that entry into his home was forced, saying that the perpetrator, or perpetrators, left behind a sledgehammer and a crowbar that he suspects were used to break into the residence.

Davis was particularly bothered by the fact that many of the items, including the jewelry, silver, and “one of a kind” knives were things that had sentimental value.

Because multiple weapons were missing from the home, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau were called in, along with the APD forensics unit, the report said.

The APD has not yet reported any leads in the case, but Davis said he had the utmost confidence in the police department.

“They’ve been right on top of it, and I suspect they’ll have some results soon,” Davis said. “They’ve done a great job. I can’t praise them enough.”

In addition to praising APD David also added that, despite his frustration over the event, he was relieved that it was just a burglary.

“If there is some good in the situation, it’s that luckily no one was home and no was injured,” he said.
