ALBANY — The Dougherty County Coroner’s office released the names this morning of two more victims killed during the violent tornado that struck south and east Albany on Sunday.

James Mosley, 59, and his wife, Cathy Mosley, 59, were both killed at Paradise Village Mobile Home Park on Sunday afternoon.

According to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, the couple were inside their home when the storm hit.

“They were in the home when the tornado struck, but we found her outside the home,” said Fowler. “The entire end of the trailer was torn off. Mr. Mosley was found still partially in what was left of the home. The cause of death was multiple blunt force traumas.”

The identities of the two victims had been withheld until family members from outside of the state were able to provide positive identification, according to the coroner.

“They didn’t have any kids,” said Fowler. “The mother of Mr. Mosley came to identify her son, and the brother of Mrs. Mosley provided identification for her.”

So far, Sunday’s tornado in Albany is responsible for a total of four confirmed fatalities, and a 2-year boy who went missing from Piney Wood Estates mobile home park off of Sylvester Road during the tornado has yet to be found.

In addition to the Mosey’s, Paul Freeman, 82, of Newcomb Road, and Oscar Reyna, 39, also of Paradise Village Mobile Home Park, have been identified among the deceased victims.

Chief Jackie Battle of the Dougherty County Police Department addressed the many rumors circulating among the public and on social media about numerous dead being found after the storm, reaffirming that only four fatalities have so far been confirmed.

“We have confirmed four people that are deceased,” said Battle. “I know there are a lot of things on social media that have gone out. We are hearing rumors, and I’ll go through a few. We are hearing rumors that there was a child that was recovered alive inside a washing machine, a dryer or a freezer, it depends on who’s telling their version of it, and that’s not true. The word was that the parents were deceased beside the child, but that’s not true.

“We are hearing that there are really high numbers of fatalities, that’s not true. We are hearing that 10 persons were deceased at a mobile home park on Sylvester Road, but that’s not true. We are hearing that the people inside of a store at Mock and Moultrie Roads were all killed during the tornado, but that’s not true. Four people have been confirmed deceased. Three of those people were located in what is considered Paradise Village Mobile Home Park at 600 Holly Drive, and another person was deceased on Newcomb Road.”
