ALBANY — Officials with the Southwest Public Health District announced Tuesday that its offices, including its county health departments, will be closed for one day next week.

The closure impacts the district’s administrative offices on North Jackson Street, its 14 county health departments and its two farm worker clinics in Ellenton and Bainbridge for the purpose of mandatory staff training.

“Employee training enables our staff to provide an enhanced level of skill and service,” said Dr. Lawton Davis, the interim health director for the district. “All-staff meetings help us improve communication and team-building within our organization.”

The health district has health departments in Baker, Calhoun, Colquitt, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Lee, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Terrell, Thomas and Worth counties. Lee County officials said its environmental office will also be closed for staff training on Monday.

Public health officials said the district’s offices will resume business on Tuesday. The Lee County environmental health office will also reopen on Tuesday, and be closed again on April 25 in observance of a state holiday.
