MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE-ALBANY — Sgt. Austin Dawley, who serves as a military police officer aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany, proved his mettle last month when he received his second meritorious promotion — to the rank of sergeant — over the course of a year.

Dawley’s hard work on the base has not gone unnoticed: In fact, he was recognized recently as MCLB-Albany’s Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

The Millville, Minn., native joined the Marine Corps as a private in February of 2021. After enlisting, the Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School graduate started making his mark, pulling off the feat of earning dual meritorious promotions within the course of a calendar year.

The citation Dawley received upon earning the base’s NCO of the Year award reads: “As a sergeant of Marines, you must set the example for others to emulate. Your conduct and professionalism both on and off duty shall be above reproach.”

Dawley’s February promotion to the rank of sergeant followed a similar meritorious promotion to corporal on March 2, 2023.
