ALBANY, Ga. — Following a 9:15 a.m. Wednesday call to 911, Albany Police Department officers went to 429 W. Tift Ave. and found a dead man in his room, a police report stated.

“A 58-year-old white male has been found deceased inside his room,” said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. “He had not been seen since Friday. We are waiting on notification of next of kin before releasing the name of the victim.”

Detectives were called in to investigate the death further, Banks said. The death was labeled suspicious because the means of death could not be immediately determined.

Updates will be released as more information comes available, Banks said.
