CINCINNATI — Another suspect wanted in connection to two Albany cold-case homicides is in custody, according to officials with the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Ronell Tidwell, 40, was arrested in Cincinnati on Sunday.

“Tidwell was arrested Sunday by the United States Marshal’s Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team in Cincinnati,” U.S. Marshal Deputy Charles Sanso said. “He was arrested without incident in a neighborhood called Roselawn. There were no issues.”

Tidwell was wanted in connection to two Albany homicides, the October 2014 murder of Jessica Bryant in her 403 S. Cleveland St. residence and the 2015 murder of Jimmy Jackson, according to reports.

Reports indicate a masked man entered Bryant’s home on Oct. 18, 2014, and shot her in the kitchen while she was holding one of her children. Jackson was reported missing in July 2015 and remained so for two years until his body was discovered in Terrell County in 2017. The remains were identified by the GBI.

Albany Police Department Detective Terrance Bryant said during an Oct. 1 interview that APD had reached out to the Marshal’s Service because it was believed that several of the suspects, including Tidwell, had fled the state.

“We believe both of these cold cases are related and have asked the Marshal’s Service to assist us in locating Zacteria White and Ronell Tidwell,” Bryant said on Oct. 1. “Both are believed to be out of state.”

Sanso confirmed that Tidwell had been coaching youth football while living in Cincinnati, saying, “Yes, from what we know, there is some truth in that he (Tidwell) was coaching football.”

According to Sanso, Tidwell faces a number of charges.

“Tidwell has been charged in connection to two different homicides that occurred in Dougherty County, one in 2014 and another in 2015,” the deputy marshal said. “There are also charges of kidnapping, robbery and assault.”

APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks confirmed Tidwell’s arrest Monday.

“Yes, we can confirm, that Tidwell was arrested by the Marshal’s Service on Sunday,” Banks said.
