If my memory serves me correctly there was a terrible tornado in Gainesville, Ga., in the late 1930s during daylight hours in which several hundred people were killed and another tornado in Cordele in the same time period. Then came the Albany tornado about 4:20 a.m. on Feb. 10, 1940 causing 19 to 21 deaths.
