ALBANY — Albany area residents turned out early Thursday morning to express their support to the hundreds of linemen who came from distant communities to help get power restored to homes and businesses after a powerful winter storm ravaged Albany and Dougherty County on Jan. 2.

The pep rally, which took place near the county’s public works facility, was organized by Mission:Change and featured more than 100 residents shouting their support and holding homemade signs.

“I would say that is was definitely an experience of chill bump emotions,” said LaDonna Urick of Mission:Change. “It was humbling to see individuals and families come so early to show their appreciation to these guys. To see the smiles on their faces of each of the linemen as they passed by all the cheering individuals and the Lee County High School marching band, it truly brought tears to your eyes. It was a beautiful sight.”
